More Violin!

January 9, 2008 / by vladimir

As promised for dogsalot (and also for Misse)...

Antonio Vivaldi Concerto No. 1 in E major, Op. 8, RV 269, "La primavera" (Spring), Allegro.
Nigel Kennedy on violin.

I don't remember posting any of the Four Seasons before. Certainly not Kennedy. Enjoy.

I wake up to it every morning. Actually, "Spring" is the first song in my "wake up" playlist but I usually get up right before it starts playing.

I wish i could play the violin like that. This was the first classical song i listened to, so i got all 4 seasons. Thanks Vlad!!!!!

Glad you like it. Do you play any instruments?
  • MissE said 10 months ago
Actually no i dont play any instruments, was more of a singer but not pop or rock or anything like that i use to sing in choirs as a soprano.....long time ago now. But if i had a choice of any instrument i would pick violin. Does it make a difference that i am left handed, with the strings and all. When i tried guitar in school they had to re string it for me.

One of my friends is a lefty cellist who plays righthanded (because orchestra positioning is kind of like eating positions only with bows and elbows instead of forks and elbows). I just did a quick search on lefthanded violins and found some sources of LH instruments. I don't know if local music shops would carry them or if that's something you'd have to specially order. I think it wouldn't work out quite the same as guitar since you have to deal with placement of chin rest, etc. Here's one of the sites I found with LH instruments (with a bit of a defense of LH playing):

Yes us south paws cop the raw end of the deal. Many things in my life i have been taught to do right handed purely because its the majority. Thanks for the link quite an interesting read. Did not realise that pretty much the whole violin has to be changed not just the strings.....heh you learn something new everyday!

[THUMBUP][THUMBUP][THUMBUP]My sister is the music talent in the family. She can play the piano, trumpet, violin, guitar and a little on the drums. She is a musical genius. As for me,I have no talent in my fingers to play this beautiful music.I used to try and just get her violin to make a sound. The violin is a hard instrument to play.Thank you again for posting this,it was awesome.[THUMBUP][SMILE][HEART]Laurie
